Cocovana was 1 or 60 collegiate companies selected to pitch in the 2015 National Elevator Pitch Competition at the 2015 Collegiate Entrepreneurs' Organization (CEO) Conference in Kansas City.
Initially Cocovana was not selected for this competition. Luckily, Founder Sheldon Barrett managed to get in by last minute cancellations from other students. Despite Barrett having the flu, he advanced to top 6 in America to represent the University of Florida in front of 800+ people from around the world. In the finals, Barrett was able to pitch the Co-Founder of Priceline and creator of the airport ticket kiosk, billionaire Jeff Hoffman. Barrett received a huge ovation when answering Hoffman's question, "why does your father have a machete?" Be sure to check out the video below!
